Types of Neuropsychology:

In reality, practitioners and researchers continue to have different emphases and are broadly divided into two areas:

  • Clinical and
  • Cognitive neuropsychology.

Difference between neuropsychologists and clinical psychologists:

Neuropsychologists are those who study the cognitive functions of the brain, such as attention, language and memory. This differs from clinical psychologists, who are primarily concerned with behavior and emotion and the treatment of related problems.

Relationship between artificial intelligence and human brain:

Artificial intelligence networks and the work of the human brain can be described as a parallel concept. Both use analogue technology to connect a set of neural networks (neurons) to collect signals and convert them into electrical effects to stimulate activity.

How brain works:

The brain is a complex information processing system, capable of a wide range of radical behaviors that translate into different thinking mechanisms. They are descriptive thinking, generative thinking (ideas that arise instantaneously and are not influenced by the past) and lateral thinking (consciously connecting unconnected parts of the mind to generate and explore new ideas).

What is the difference between the mind and the brain?

Simply put, the mind is the part of the brain that is responsible for reasoning, thinking and emotion. Generally speaking, the brain is responsible for the whole of human nature and behavioral perception. This theory has a different connotation in that the mind and the brain exist as separate entities, with the brain and the mind exhibiting dualistic behavior. This is the ‘mind-body’ problem that neuroscientists are working on.

Theories of neuropsychology

The study of the brain is full of abstract theories and doctrines, with different beliefs and proofs. One of the key theories in neuropsychology is the ‘dynamism theory’. It states that the brain is not a fully programmed entity. Instead, it is a self-determining logical deterministic force capable of adapting to incoming signals and improving its dynamism. This concept is an important mechanism of the brain that allows humans to acquire new skills without any prerequisites. It is used in artificial intelligence neural networks, in which robots are trained to be autonomous and automate

Localization hypothesis

The localization hypothesis is part of the cellular theory, which proposes that mental, emotional and spiritual processes are localized and reside in the ventricles of the brain. This theory is abstract and is one of the reasons why machine learning algorithms are unable to import emotional quotients into artificial intelligence devices.

Materialism

“Materialism” states that the brain can be compared to a mechanical device, working on “moving matter”. It classifies the different functions of the brain according to the matter responsible for its work. All the physical functions of the brain depend on the amount of bodily fluids in the brain known as ‘humors’. It is directly responsible for the fundamental work of the brain. Thus, a calm/happy mental state is known as ‘good humor’, while a poor emotional state is known as ‘bad humor’.

Importance of the study of human brain and psychology:

As the world advances in technology, the study of the human brain is vital to bridge the gap between human intelligence and artificial intelligence.
