In the third season of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Rian’s group battles the Skeksis in the Circle of the Suns. The Skeksis attempt to siphon the Crystal’s lifeforce and declare themselves Thra’s rulers. Rian discovers the existence of a legendary weapon called the Dual Glaive, which will end Skeksis rule. Rian is eventually reunited with the Dual Glaive, where he regains his power.
The native creatures of Thra have their own vitality and are not a reflection of the Skeksis. They do not have disease or corruption. The natives of Thra have always protected the Crystal, while the Skeksis only recently discovered its power.
The series’ cast of characters is largely female. Two of the three main characters are girls, Princess Brea and Deet. Both are brave and proactive. The Gelfing society is made up entirely of women, with the exception of a few males. The Gelfings have a female ruler, Mother Aughra. Brea plays a vital role in uncovering the truth.
