If you’re a non-UK resident and you need to drive here, you may be able to obtain a temporary driving license. Non-UK residents aren’t permitted to apply for a full UK driving license. If you are granted a temporary license, you may be able to drive for up to 6 months.
The UK government doesn’t permit drivers who live outside of the country to apply for a full license. You must either drive in your own country with your home driver’s license or you must use a foreign driver’s license. Your non-UK driver’s license will be valid for a period of time. It will allow you to drive during your stay in the UK. Once you leave the UK, you will have to renew your license.
In addition, you will have to pass a knowledge Automatic driving lessons in Oxford test before you can take a driving lesson. You may be required to get your provisional license before you can take a test. A provisional license allows you to drive in certain conditions. A provisional license is issued for at least 2 weeks but no more than 3 months.
You’ll need to show your non-UK license if you wish to obtain a provisional license. If you get a provisional license, you’ll be able to drive with your license until it expires. The time you spend on probation will depend on your home state.
